Transforming Education for the Public Good
This image disappoints me. The visual rhetoric is heavy-handed, inappropriate to the situation, and therefore sends the wrong message about why faculty, staff, students, and administrators should oppose the Redesign in its current form. Labor relations under the HR Redesign won't quite go back to the 19th century, and given the university's difficult financial situation, no one is going to get rich. The windfall of the redesign won't be wealth, but the consolidation of administrative power at the expense of shared governance and bargaining rights. The destiny of the university will no longer rest in the collective hands of its employees, faculty, staff, administrators, students, and the electorate, but it will reside instead in the narrow purview of administrators who think like CEOs, and an professoriate who want to be administrators.
